We are currently trialling the AbleTowel and the AbleSling to see if they are suitable and useful to our young people. The AbleTowel is a liner that can be placed inside a wheelchair to prevent the wheelchair cushions from getting wet once the individual is transferred from the bath or swimming pool into their wheelchair. We are also trialling the AbleSling and AbleSling Lite, these are alternate hoisting solutions to the Promove sling. The AbleSling can have the young person’s own wheelchair cushion inserted into the base of the sling, this ensures when the young person is sat in a different chair, for example an airplane seat, they are still comfortable and seated correctly. Once we have spoken to the founder of the company, we will make a decision and secure funding for these packs.
