CURRENT APPEALS
Below is a list of children we are urgently raising funds for. If you feel you would like to help by holding a charity event or make a donation please to not hesitate to click here, as we would only be too pleased to assist.
CHRISTMAS WISH APPEAL
We are currently raising funds for our Christmas Wish Appeal. We have asked each child on our lists to pick their most wanted toy (£150 limit), and we will send the families Toys R Us vouchers to ensure their child opens this present on Christmas morning. We need to raise £9,000 over the next few months to make sure the families receive the vouchers before the Christmas rush. We hope you agree that there is no better gift than being able to make a child smile on this special day, especially those who are less fortunate than
ourselves. As you will appreciate the majority of families we help struggle financially every Christmas, as many of their parents have had to give up work to become full time carers to their children, but together, with your help we can make a difference this Christmas
THOMAS
Thomas aged 5 suffers with Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, Seizures, Gastronomy, Global Developmental delay, Learning Difficulties and Scoliosis. Thomas is unable walk, talk, stand, sit, or feed and needs 24th care and attention.
Thomas’s mother was a fully trained matron, while her husband cared for their child, but due to a recent meeting it has been decided that Thomas must be educated at home due to his severe seizures, meaning his mother has also have to give up work to attend with his care. They have had to sell their home to pay off part off their debts and move into council accommodation. This has had a knock on effect on the whole family as their standards of living have decreased considerably due to their extreme debts.
Despite all this Thomas’s mother describes him as wonderful child whom is a pleasure to be with.
They are unable to go on holiday, as it is impossible to plan ahead, as they never know how Thomas will be from one day to the next, which their other seven year old son finds hard to understand.
They have requested assistance with the purchase of sensory and education equipment to enable Thomas to continue his education at home, and also due to his constant vomiting after every feed they require laminate flooring in their lounge, as their current carpet is rather worse for wear.
We estimate the cost of this project to be £1,800.
ADAM
Adam aged 13 was diagnosed with Juvenile Chronic Arthritis in 1993, which particularly affects his hands, neck, knees and arms. Adams parents have recently split up and he has no contact with his father. The family struggle to make ends meet on benefits. They used to receive a lot of support from his grandparents, but they moved to Spain, and Adams health has deteriorated ever since. His social worker has suggested that Adams health would benefit from a reunion with his grandparents in Spain and the rest his family would.
We estimate the cost of this to be approx £1,000 for flights and spending.
SHANE
Shane aged 14 suffers with severe Brittle Bone Disease. He is wheelchair bound and is currently using a Packard bell easy note due to his hands being to weak to write. This computer is now six years and is becoming difficult to use due to being unable to read some disks and certain keys no longer working. Shane would hugely benefit from a new
Laptop at a cost of £1500. The family have so far managed to raise £400.
THE CLUFF FAMILY
Georgina has four children (ages 14,11,8,5 of which three have severe medical conditions ranging from Cerebral Palsy to Brittle Bone Disease, as well as Georgina also having Osteogenesis Imperfecta. After an approach from their social worker, it has been explained that the family are in extreme financial difficulty and the whole family needs a holiday. For this reason we have decided to send the children and their family on a two week trip to Disneyland, Florida, including swimming with the dolphins, which we are sure you know, is very theraputic for them. Their social worker will also be attending the holiday to help with the day to day care of the children. The approximate cost of this holiday is £10,000, including spending money.
SUMMER HOLIDAY APPEAL
Our newly fully refurbished holiday home is fully booked for 2005. The home is situated in California Sands, Scratby, Great Yarmouth; the site has fantastic amenities including its own swimming pool and children's entertainment in the clubhouse. It is a two-minute walk from the rides and arcades, and a very short walk to the famous golden beaches of this part of Norfolk.
Many of our parents who have been selected for a holiday have had to give up employment to become full time carers to their children. For this reason we have decided to grant each family £250 spending money for a one week holiday. Any help that you can provide with this appeal would be greatly appreciated, as we have families booked in from April-September this year.
